Some children have problems with understanding spoken language, speaking, or a combination of both. Children with receptive language disorders may have difficulty with following directions, answering questions, pointing to named items, and taking turns when talking to others. Children with expressive language disorders have difficulty with naming objects, asking questions, using gestures, producing sentences, tailoring his/her language to the person (i.e. talking to a parent and sibling differently) and using correct grammar.
